RUGBY. Oct. 21. An agreement setting up a Uniteu Nations Relief Rehabilitation Administration will, it is hoped, be signed within three weeks by the United Nations and other nations associated with them, according to Mr. Francis B. Sayre, Assistant to the Secretary of State. Speaking in New York, to-day, he stated that there is to be a meeting in November at which representatives of the United Nations will be present and at which organisation and rules will be proposed. The plan for setting up special United Nations’ organisations, he added, had already been laid before the nations concerned, and there was every indication cf a substantial agreement by all. NEW YORK, Oct. 20. Members of the National Association of Manufacturers are preparing to hire up to a million men, who may Be medically discharged from Ihe armed forces, next year, said the President of the Assoc'ation, Air. Frederick’ Crawford. He added that post-war rehiring will be on a seniority basis. “If one man is number two hundred on the list he will have a job if there are two hundred jobs, but if there are only 139 jobs, he won’t.” CANBERRA, Oct. 21 The Australian Government wishes to arrange for post-war immigration of British industrial workers. Mr. Curtin has announced the appointment of a Departmental Committee to report on all aspects ot migration from Britain. This appointment, rer.resents a departure from traditional Labour f oiicy, which has , always opposed immigration. It foreshadows a vigorous .mnugration scheme to begin as soon as Hie war ends. The Committee has not keen asked to report on migration from any country but Britain. Political commentators say the Committee’s appointment indicates the sweeping nature of the policy changes to be discussed at the Federal Labour Party Conference in Dei eember.
