TAXI HOLD-UPS

I Two Marines, part of a trio of IlJn'ted Slates servicemen who held up I two taxidrivers in Wellington more .than a month ago, have been sent- ' enced by a military 7 tribunal to live ■ and two years’ imprisonment respectively. The trial of the third meipber of the trio has not yet been I comnleted. ~ , , Another taxi hold up took place early this morning when two men I idehthied as marines relieved a local cab driver of ten pounds. I According to the drivers statement 'he picked up two marines around midnight and agreed to take them to Johnsonville. At the request of the two marines, the taxidriver went on to a point just past Tawa Flat town- ! ship where he was ordered to stop the i car and there at the point of the pistol, he was robbed of ten pounds in fares. The m'litary authorities were informed and a search for the men responsible is being made. A taxi hold up during the latter part of September by two marines resulted in their apprehension by military investigators within four days. These men have been found gu ity and are await.ng sentence.
