P.A. WELLINGTON, August 20. The engine, and second, third, fourth and fifth carriages of the eight carriages on the 7.25 a.m. train from Upper Hutt to Wellington, which normally carries 300 to 400 passengers/ were derailed a mile north of Andrews station, this morning, stopping the traffic on the local and Wairarapa line. The derailed carriages were left leaning against the bank of the highway on the inner side of a slight curve. The rails were bent and the broken track ploughed up. Passengers were lucky to escape injury. One woman sustained a wrenched ankle. The train brings in a large number of suburban passengers. There be considerable delay before the line is cleared. WELLINGTON, Aug. 19. Struck by an electric train at Khandallah shortly before 5 p.m. today, J. A. Hendrv, aged 55, a retired engineer, of Khandallah, suffered head injuries from which he died later in hospital. Hendry was struck from behind, and hurled on to the ramp of the station platform.
