RAT ATTACKS BABY

ON EYE AND FINGERS. WELLINGTON, July 16. Awakened bv screams from tlieir ten months old baby, Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Edwards, of Oriental Paraae, found the child bleeding from wounds on the hand and race, it had been savagely attacked by a rat. The fingers, of its left hands had been bitten almost to the bone, and there were lessei? bites round the left eye. The baby is being treated at the hospital, where a doctor stated that the child ,was fortunate not to have lost the fingers of its left hand. The rat’s teethmarks were clearly defined.
