Manawatu-Rangitikei Hunt THE FIELDS REVIEWED. The combined meeting of the Manawatu-Rangitikei Hunt Clubs will be held at Awapuni to-day. Owing to the number of acceptors in the Flying Hack Handicap, a division may be necessary. The course is likely to be soft, and the following may give a line on the prospects of those engaged. Hack Hurdles: Of. the higher weighted division, First Edition reads best. Among those lower down, Colonel Bogey and Moderate look to have the best chances, also Opaltown, if he has recovered from his recent lameness. The final figures may show Moderate to be preferred to Colonel Boge.y and First Edition. Flying Hack Handicap: Flying Ace won very easily last Saturday, and if produced he is sure to be favourite. The journey will suit Foxcatcher. She was one of the leaders well into the straight in the hack mile at Trentham last Saturday. Statue won well last time out, while the best of the others may be Siyana, who has been working well, and Phaleria. The latter, like Flying Ace, is in L. G. Morris’s stable, and whatever this trainer should elect to start will be most favoured, with Statue and Foxcatcher probably next in demand. Ladies’ Bracelet: Circular Note certainly has a lot of weight but it is not a good field and he is likely to be the most sought after. Of the remainder, Red Chief and Taane Pango may show up. Combined Hunts Cup: If Red Glare is to have any chance over the Riccarton fences this should be easy for him. Others to find favour will be Acrobat and Henry of Huntingdon. Champion Hack Cup: The greater portion of this field also claim an engagement in the Farewell Hack. The extra furlong of this event should suit Broivene, Young Jim and War Credit.

West Coast Steeplechase: Taking a line through Abbey Lu’s form, Sir Waimai is nicely placed here. Of his opponents the best may be Gay Fox and Radiant Bay.

President’s Handicao: On her Wellington showing. Gaymiss will probably be the elect of speculators, and she looks like taking a power of beating. If there is a surprise in store it may come from Indian Sport who may prove here that his form last week-end was all wrong. Black Robe is also entitled to consideration as she is very well just now.

Farewell Hack: If reserved for this event, Alchemy may merit most support over - Davilia and Frustration. " .

Racing Notes 1 Promising Novice: Moderate, who had given some promise as a hurdler earlier in the winter, was very well backed to win at Trentham last week-end and ran his best race in his new sphere, finishing on solidly to be second to the improving First Edition. On this form Moderate should win as a jumper when the opposition is not too strong, but he has done nothing yet to indicate that he is likely to'be really good.

Impressive Win: Flying Ace completely outclassed the opposition m the Trial Plate at the Wellington meeting. He was in front from the barrier rise and came OTI to the course proper lengths clear of his field. In the run home he displayed no signs of tiring and scored a very easy win by eght lengths. He is not yet done winning, and bred as he is, is likely to go a lot further. Out of Hacks: A fine track gallop and the presence of B. H. Morris in the saddle helped to send Broiviene out favourite for the hack seven at Trentham. Morris jumped her out smartly from No. 1 position at the barrier, and thereafter gave her a line run just behind the pacemakers. When he brought her to the front again in the straight she gave the opposition no chance, winning very easily. Broiviene is out of hacks now, but is eligible to fulfill her engagements at to-day’s Hunt meeting!

Back to Form: Authoress is now at her best again and in fact seems better than she was last season. Her second in the Winter Hurdles was a good performance and she is likely to make a good showing in the Grand National Hurdles. This mare won a race at R-iccarton last August with a big impost, her exhibition of jumping that day being most spectacular. An Improver: Aqueduct looked in great order when paraded at Trentham last Saturday. That, he is well he proved by lumping 9.10 into second place in the mile hack event. An entire son of Tiderace and Oreum, he can handle most kinds of going and is a likely sort for a decent provincial handicap in the early spring.
