REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent) a REEFTON, June 25.. Private Frank Lawry arrived home on leave last evening. Mr. A. McKenzie has returned from Christchurch where he has been spending a holiday. Mr. W. Flintoff, of Wellington, is in Reefton looking up old friends. Trooper J,. Ward has arrived home on leave. Last evening Pilot Officer Muff gave an exhibition in the Gymnasium on gvmnastics. At the conclusion Mr. Porter addressed those present on the prospects of forming a Reefton Club, After several had voiced their opinion, it was decided to start a class next Thursday night when officials would be elected. An invitation is extended to all interested. Pilot Officer Muff was accorded a vote of. thanks. Winners of the 500 at the Fire Brigade cards were Mrs. Ladiner (ladies), Mr. Chadwick (gents), Mr. Walker (chocolates).

The monthly meeting of the Inangahua Hospital Board was held at Reefton on Thursday: Messrs J. B. Auld (chair), J. B. Discaciati, J. Coghlan, F. W. Archer W. Cla-yton, J. F. Coghlan. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Letters were received from the Manpower Office re employment j of a man at the hospital. From the Health Department re bank overdraft for the Septembei' quarter. It was resolved that an application be made for an overdraft of £lOOO. From the same re new staff quarters at the Reefton Hospital. Received. From the Hospital Boards’ Association re increase to be paid to boards by Social Security Department. Received. From the North Canterbury Hospital Board advising admission of, an Inangahua patient to their hospital. Dr. Wicken, Medical Superintendent reported the follovying: . Admitted 23; discharged 28; in-patients 30; births 4; out-patients 21; deaths 0. Mr. Discaciati reported for the visiting committee on several matters needing attention. Matron Whisker asked if some improvement could be made to' the mail delivery at the hospital. The ‘present system was not satisfactory. It was resolved that the chairman interview the Postmaster re delivery of mail to the hospital. The following accounts were passed for payment: J.
