The exhaustion within from 14 to 20 years of all of the nation’s now known natural crude oil resources was predicted by Colonel Knox, Navy Secretary, at a press conference. Col. Knox said that geologists believed that there was ’ little likelihood of any new great oil deposits being discovered in the United States. Thus, he said, to avoid America becoming a “have-not” nation, its resources must be conserved and foreign oil resources must be developed.
