(Our Own Correspondent) Mrs. Pollard who has been visiting Mrs. G. Martin, Taylorville, returned to Christchurch on Thursday. Pte. J. Menzies, who has been spending leave in the district, has returned to an East Coast Hospital for treatment. Miss Russia and her retinue will be present at the Concert and Mock Court which is to behld in the Wallsend Hall to-night. She will also appear at the ball at Ahaura later in the evening. A farewell social was tendered to ■Pte. J. Shand on Thursday night in the Wallsend Hall. Mr. G. Eder on behalf of the Soldiers’ Farewell Committee presented Pte. Shand with the usual wallet and contents. Mr. J. McNeish spoke on behalf of the R.S.A. and wished Pte. Shand a speedy re-, turn. Pte. Shand replied fittingly.; A delightful hand-round supper was sewed by the energetic Ladies’ Com-i mittee. I
