SWEDISH OPINION
Germany Beaten
NEW YORK. June 20.
The “New York Times” correspondent in the Swedish capital says: An impression is widespread in Stockholm that Germany has already lost the war. A poll was recently held. A majority expressed the opinion that the war would end this year. This optimism is not limited to the man in the street. Indeed politicians and businessmen lead the way. Moreover the Swedish Government has notably stiffened its attitude towards Germany. For example it has. re-appointed a Swedish envoy to the Norwegian exiled Government in London. This is a sign that the Government also thinks "everything is fine.” It is significant that papers are full of post-war planning. Large companies are being . floated to take care of post-war sea and a?r travel. General interest in learning the English language is reaching such a peak that Anglo-Swedish dictionaries have 'been entirely sold out even in second-hand bookshops.
