Messrs Herman and Pascoe left for Wellington by air yesterday. Miss M. Henderson left yesterday for Wellington. Private R. Carruthers arrived in Greymouth bv yesterday’s express. Mr. H. Zampesi arrived from Christchurch yesterday. Mrs Tom Learmont, Junr., returned to Wellington by air yesterday. Mr. J. R. .Keddie left yesterday for the North Island having spent leave in Greymouth. Mr. B. A. Briggs of Christchurch, who has been visiting Greymouth, will leave on return to-day. Miss W. C. McGilchrist commenced duty yesterday on the. staff of the teleohone exchange, Greymouth. Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Allen, Paroa, have received advice that their son, James is safe and well in the Middle East. Mr. C. Dalkie, Karangarua, arrived in Greymouth yesterday on holiday, and will leave for Westport this morning to visit relatives. Mr. A. J. Stenhouse. postman at Blackball has been transferred to the Telegraph Training School, Wellington, and leaves for his new post on July 6. Hon. E. T. Tirikatene, who represents the Maori race on the Executive Council will be opposed by Lieutenant Tony Tikao Barrett, M.C.,' in the Southern Maori seat at the forthcoming general elections.

Guests at Revington’s Hotel include: Lieutenant E. Nicholas (U.S. Army); Mr. and Mrs. Hamlin (Invercargill) ; Mr. and Mrs. F. Robb (Wellington); Messrs S. W. Campbell, J. Ferguson, W. Murphy, and D. R. Leggat (Christchurch).

A Melbourne cablegram announced the death of Mr. Leslie Bradford, general manager of the Broken Hill Pty., since 1935. He was 65. He had been ill for some months. He was one of Australia’s outstanding metallurgists and discovered a' metal flotation process, which is the basis of all such processes throughout the world.

The death occurred yesterday at Greymouth of Mr. Albert Anderson, aged 78 years. The late Mr. Anderson was born in Sweden and came to New Zealand 56 years ago. He worked most of his life in the sawmilling industry and spent his later years at Ruru. He leaves one son, Oscar, (Erua, Main Trunk, North Island). He is an uncle to Miss Mary Anderson, Mrs. Drummond, Mrs, Mason, and Mr. James Anderson, all of Greymouth. The l funeral will take place at Karoro Cemetery to-morrow.
