REEFTON NOTES

[Our own Correspondent.! REEFTON, June 16. Pte. E. O’Donoghue is on a visit to his sister, Mrs Isbister. lan Rawston, son of Mr H. E. Rawston, has left for Wellington, where he has accepted a position in the Public Service.

Pte. J. McAuley is spending leave with relatives in Rieefton.

Mr Tom Watson, junr.. of Crushington, has entered the local hospital for'treatment. A number of local girls have received advice from the District Manpower Officer to terminate their present work and to proceed to various types of essential employment. Mr Stanley Austin has donated two rhododendron trees to the Inangahua County Council to be transplated to the King George Memorial Park. The trees are fine flowering specimens. No doubt the

residents would be pleased to see more shrubs planted by the Council. The Catholic Parishioners’ Ball Committee have exerything well advanced for theii’ annual ball on Friday night. The gymnasium is being decorated and the floor given special attention. Mrs Curtis’s orchestra will be arriving’ from Westport by the 4.45 rail-car. Dancing will commence earlier than on previous occasions. Supper arrangements have been finalised and the committee is ‘ catering for a large crowd of visitors.
