The “Tribune’s” Santiago correspondent says: “Private advices, received from Buenos Aires, describe the new Argentine regime as a nationalist and pro-fascist movement, which’is backed by a group of Naziminded generals and admirals, and is designed primarily to prevent any break with the Axis.” The correspondent also says: “General Ra : mirez has long been known as one of the most pro-Nazi officers in the Argentime Army, and taking as a great pride his three- ylears’ service with Kaiser Wilhelm’s Fifth Hussars.

The Buenos Aires tcorrefcpondenjt of the Associated Press of America says: Martial law has been lifted here. President Ramirez last night declared that foreign relations would be regulated not only by words, but acts, which “will draw us even nearer our American brothers.” This is interpreted, in some quarters, as possibly to mean that the Argentine will give effect to a resolution adopted at the Pan-American Conference at Rio De Janeiro, calling for a rupture of relations with Germany, Italy and Japan. The United Press correspondent says: After the first meeting of the new Cabinet, the foreign embassies were formally informed that a new Government had been constituted, ■and has been approved by the Supreme Court. This was a first step towards securing the Government’s recognition by foreign Powers. BACK TO NORMAL. (Rec. 9.10) NEW YORK, June 10. “The Times” Buenos Aires correspondent says:. Machine-guns and other weapons have been removed from the windows and roof of Government House. The troops have returned to barracks. These measures have given the Argentinians the comforting feeling of normality,, returning. No further sensational surprises can be expected for the present. RECOGNITION OF NEW REGIME. June 10. The Governments of Paraguay, Bolivia and Chile have all notified their recognition of the new Argentine Government. BRAZIL’S RECOGNITION. (Rec. 9 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 10. The Government of Brazil has officially recognised the new Argentine Government, says a despatch from Monte Video. RUSH OF RECOGNITIONS. NEW YORK, June 10. The Rio de Janeiro correspondent of the Associated Press of America stated: The American republics are hastening in their recognition of the new Argentine Government. Hus is in order to avoid a possibly, embara'ssing situation if the Axis Powers should be the first to recognise President Ramirez, thus attempting to place him under any obligation. CHILEAN CABINET . RESIGNS. NEW YORK, June 8. The President of Chile (Si\ Juan Rios) postponed his visit to the United States following the resignation of the Chilean Cabinet.. He said that the resignation of the Cabinet did not affect the foreign policy of Chile, which was one of total adherence to the cause of thp Democracies.
