[Our Own Correspondent.] HOKITIKA, May 17. Mr H. C. Rowe, Postmaster at Hokitika, is at present on holidays. Mr. D. Pettigrew is at present serving as second engineer on a coastal vessel, relieving Mr. James Houston, who is engaged on shore duty lor a period. , Mr. J. Stuart, son of Mr. and Mrs. D P. Stuart of Hokitika, who is attached to the R.N.Z.A.F.. has received his wings. Master J. Breeze is at present spending a short holiday in Hokitika. Mr. and Mrs H. B. Stains left oy the rail-car this afternoon for Christchurch. They will return to Hokitika at the week-end. . • Mr. F. D. Gillespie of Hokitika, is spending! the school holidays in Canterbury. , r Mr. C. L. Harper, of the staff of me District High School, is at present serving a refresher course at a military camp. Master Eastgate of the, school is also undergoing a framing course. Mrs. Ellen Fane of Hokitika is .at present in l Westland Hospital. It is understood that she will be a patient for some weeks. Dr T W. Childs, who has returned to Hokitika as Superintendent of the Sea View Mental Hospital, received a very warm welcome from his many friends in the district. During his previous term in Hokitika he was extremely popular. He was President, of the Hokitika Branch of the Returned Services’ Association, and devoted a great deal of time to the care and attention of returned men. Dr. Andrea and Mrs .Andrea, of Takaka, arrived in Hokitika on Monday morning. Dr. Andrea is to take over the medical practice of Dr. B. L Wilson. Dr. Andrea and Mrs. Andrea left for Christchurch by the rail-car on Monday afternoon and will return to Hokitika on Thursday in company with Dr. Wilson. Prior to his departure from Hokitika for Auckland, Dr. Bellringer was met by the staff of the Sea View Mental Hospital at the Social Hal . On behalf of the staff Mr. Shand, head attendant, presented Dr. Bellringer with a handsome chromium tea wagon as a token of the very hmh esteem in which he was held. Mr. Shand said that all members of, the staff of the Sea View Mental Hospital regretted very; much the departure of their superintendent. He extended ever}' good wish to Dr. and Mrs. Bellringer and their family in their new home in Auckland. Dr. Bellringer left Hokitika last week for Auckland. A larse party of Home Guardsmen of the Hokitika companv spent the week-end on manoeuvres in the country. The party was in charge ot Lt. Buckland. ' This is the second stunt organised by Lt. Buckland, and the Home Guardsmen enjoyed the outings. The party returned to Hokitika on Sunday evening Hokitika again secured its quota for National Savings last week:.
