COLLECTION OF SCRAP
DEPOTS ESTABLISHED IN GERMANY. LONDON, May 16. A Stockholm message says that the Reich Minister of Economics (Dr. Walter Funk’ has announced that 60,000 depots have been established for the collection of scrap—old boots, clothes, silk and metal. "Our enemies’ hopes of crippling German resistance must be put to shame,”'said Dr Funk. “New material resources must be produced. Our soldiers must be re-equipped and munition workers clothed.” Germans are being given receipts for the scrap, which suggests that the collection is not entirely voluntary. but the subject of Nazi Party control.
