HON. P. K. PAIKEA DEAD

SUDDEN ILLNESS WANGANUI, April 6. The death occurred suddenly in Wanganui early this morning of Hon. P. K. Paikea, Member for Northern Maori and representing the Native Race on the Executive Council. He was in his 49th year. He left Wellington late on Friday afternoon to visit Mr H. T. Riatana, M.P. for Western Maori, who is in hospital at Patea and on his way back to Ratana Pa on Saturday became ill and was taken to a private hospital in Wanganui. 'A haemorrhage developed last night and he died at two o’clock this morning.
