COMMUNISM

WHO PAYS FOR BRITISH ACTIVITY. LONDON. March 30. Tremendous sums are being spent on Communist activity in .Britain, but the source of the money is hidden, says an article entitled'"Where is the Communist Party Balance Sheet.” in the “Labour Press Service,” which is issued by the Labour Party Press Publicity Department. The article continues: “The ‘Daily Worker’ alone, in 1943. is costing double the Labour Party’s annual income from affiliation fees from the 2.500,000 organised members and the ‘Daily Worker’ is only one of the many expensive'Communist enterprises. .For what is all this wealth being poured out? It is to influence mass opinion and particularly trade union Labour movement, opinion in favour of Communist policy. ..... “Communist leaders have admitted that they take direction from an authority outside Britain. We know, therefore, who calls the tune, but who pays the piper? It is useless looking to the Communist Party for a reply because the Party carefully hides all information about finances. Nobody, not even the members of the Communist Party itself, except a select few, are allowed to know anything about the finances. Labour men and women must be on guard against the money power wielded secretly by people who for years have proclaimed enmity to the Labour Party.”
