MISSION TO ACCOMPLISH •TREATY? (Rec 12.30.) NEW YORK, April 2. The North American .newspaper “Alliance” says that the editor of the Catholic weekly “Commonwealth.” Michael Williams, is scheduled to accompany Dr. Spellman shortly on a tour of Russia, China, and India. It says that ecclesiastical circles in Washington consider that Dr. Spellman intends to accomplish a treaty between th e Vatican and the Kremlin, effecting a working settlement in Russian Catholic religious relations which has long been, a cherished policy of the Vatican. VISIT TO CANADA. (Rec. 1.30.) OTTAWA. April ‘2. Th e Canadian Prime Minister (Mr. MacKenzie King) disclosed that he and his Cabinet colleagues had reached complete agreement with Mr. Eden in discussions concerning present world conditions and methods of bringing the war to an earlv end. He pointed out to Mr. Eden tnat President Roosevelt had previously reached full accord with him on similar subjects.
