REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) REEFTON, March 29. Mr N. Clarke, postmaster at Kumara. is spending leave with his parents. Mr W. Egerton, of Denniston, is on a visit to his sister, Mrs A. Cohen, Cronadun. Mr D. McGill is visiting Reefton. Mrs Butterfield, of Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs Carson. Cronadun.

Mr Dan McGinley, of Auckland, is staying with Mr T. O’Donnell. Mr and Mrs C. Coxall left for Wellington this morning to attend the Fire Brigades’ conference. Messrs W. Cooper and G. Carson spent the week-end at the Victoria Ranges. s Mr Percy Colvin was a visitor by yesterday’s rail-car. Mr A. Patterson, of Wellington, is visiting his mother at Reefton. Mr M. O’Malley and family have returned from Westport. The March meeting of the Cronadun Women’s Institute was held at Mrs J. Coghlan’s residence. Mrs T. Coghlan presided. The remits for the half-yearly meeting of the West Coast Federation were discussed and Mrs T. Coghlan and Mrs A. Cohen were appointed delegates to represent Cronadun. The report and balance sheet of the secretary and treasurer, were read and adopted. The retiring committee were accorded a vote of thanks for the year’s work. Mrs E. Cohen was re-elect-ed secretary and treasurer; Mrs J. Coghlan president; and Mrs A. Ar- j cher vice-president for the ensuing year. R. N. Seymour was declared the winner of the hand-knitted blanket, made by members. Mrs A. Cohen was announced the winner of the year’s competitions. The competition for the month brought forth some tasty meat pasties which were enjoyed at afternoon tea, Mrs Ellery being declared the winner.

The return from the Slab Hut dredge for the week ending March 27 was 91 ounces.
