GREYMOUTH WOMEN’S CLUB The annual meeting of the Women’s Branch of the Greyjnouth Golt Club was' presided over by Mrs. J. W. Hannan. The balance sliee<. showed a loss of £3 8s Id. and the annual report stated that owing to war conditions and a depleted membershin the season had not been as successful as others. The debit m the balance sheet was accounted tor by the committee' not receiving the usual levy from the men’s committee. Ine first nine holes were open during the season, and towards the latter part the whole eighteen holes were open, for which the grounds staff was congratulated. The report continued: Owing to the war. no Club or West Coast championship games were played during the 1942 season. Likewise we were unable to arrange any interclub fixtures. A two-day open tournament was held in conjunction with the men’s Club on the King s Birthday week-end —Miss M. McKay winning the Ray Cup. Towards the latter part of the season Mrs. J. Coffey, secretary! left to join the W.A. A.F.. and Miss D. Blair was appointed for the remainder of the season. During the year a social evening was held, the funds being used to purchase Christmas parcels for all members of the Club serving in the Forces overseas. Fourteen parcels were forwarded and to date seven of thanks have been received, me Club also held a shop day for patriotic purposes. The women’s committee are indebted to the men’s committee for their co-operation in making the 1942 season a pleasant one. The principal prize winners for the season were:—Omoto Cup: Mrs. W. P. McCarthy. Robertson-Neville Cups; Misses D. Blair and J. Robertson. Captain’s Trophy: Mrs. A. Smith: Secretary’s Trophy: Mrs. P. Lizard Caulton Trophies (2); Miss JHambleton and Mrs. P. Tizard. Silver Medal: Mrs. P. Tizard* and Mrs. W. P. McCarthy (Tie). ' Bronze Medal-. Miss D. Blair. The election of officers resulted:— Captain; Mrs. J. W. Hannan; ■ secretary, Miss D. Blair; committee, Mesdames F. Chivers, W. P. McCarthy, Misses J. Hambleton and A. McKnight.
