U.S. ARMY AIR FORCE

Command Changes (Rec 11.0.) WASHINGTON, Mar. 28. The U.S. War Department has announced a reorganisation of the Army Air Force’s High Command, reducing the major divisions on the Air Staff from nineteen to six. The changes are described as “not a shake up. but streamlining to expedite action.” They are designed to free the Headquarters from detailed work in order to concentrate on policy matters. • They give the Field Commanders greater responsibility. They will reduce the Washington personnel. General Arnold remains as Commander of the Air Forces. Major General George Stratemeyer is Chief of the Air Staff. There are three Deputy Staff Chiefs. They are Brigadier General Laverne Saunders (who was a fighter pilot in the South-Paci-fic before his recall), Brigadier General T. J. Hanley and Colonel William Hall. A new department, “Official Special Projects” is created under Colonel Trubee Davison
