U.S. FOOD BOSS

SUPPLY SITUATION DIFFICULT. (Rec. 12.48.) WASHINGTON. Mar. 25. President Roosevelt has announced the creation of a Food Production Administration, headed bv Mr. Chester Davis, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and former Director of Agricultural Adjustment Administration. The New York Herald Tribune says. This appointment is far more significant than it appears on the surface. Mr. Roosevelt is thoroughly alarmed at the danger of a breakdown in food production. It has made Mr. Davis what is unofficially described as “food boss” in the full sense of the term.. Mr. Davis is reported to have accepted the appointment under’ the condition that he is given complete control of farm prices, and final authority over the entire food distribution.
