(Our Own Correspondent) REEFTON, Feb. 23. Lance Corporal Shaw. Privates R. Griffen and E. Hunt, and Corporal J. Fensom are spending leave • with their people in Reefton. Miss N. Bierwith has left for a. holiday to Methven. Various schools from the West Coast and Buller districts are coming to Reefton for the Annual School Sports on March 5. Granity, Westport, and Denniston will be represented from the Northern end. The programme for the West Coast Swimming Championships has been drawn up and includes: Junior boys: 50 yards, 100 yards breastroke, backstroke; Junior girls: 50 yards. 100 yards, oackstroke, breastroke; Intermediate boys: 50 yards, 100 yards, backstroke, breastroke; Intermediate girls: 50 yards, 100 yards, backstroke, breaststroke; Senior ladies: 50 yards, 100 yards; Men: 50 yards handicap; Boys, 12 and under; Girls, 12 and under; Diving: Men’s, ladies’, intermediate, juniors. Trophies will be presented for the girls and boys races and a cup to the local girl gaining most points in the various events. Entries close with the secretary. Mr. Albert Barnett. . z At a sitting of the Magistrate s Court at Reefton on Tuesday, before Mr. G. G. Chisholm, S.M.. the following cases were heard: T. A. Dellaca v. Colin Griffen. Judgment was given for plaintiff by consent for £4 8s 9d. with costs £1 5s 6d; J. W. Osborne v. J. A. Tobin. Judgment was given for plaintiff by default for 6s 2d costs; G. E. A. Hubbard v. A. O. Beyers. Judgment was given for plaintiff by default for £6 18s, with costs £1 12s 6d. At a sitting of the Warden’s Court before Mr. G. G. Chisholm. Warden, applications were heard as follows: Cecilia Margaret Morris, for a reduction of rent on the claim licenses. —Recommended; William Nicholls for a coal lease over 7 acres in Block XI, Reefton S.D. Objected to by Waitahu N.Z. Colliery Ltd and A. D. Williams.—Granted, subject to the consent of the Minister, a half chain barrier to be left on applicant’s of the boundary with the objectors lease; Andrew Andrews and Leo Rudkin, for an ordinary prospecting license over 78 acres in Block XV, Waitahu S.D.—Granted subject to prior rights; Joseph Henry Thomas Griggs, for (1) extension of time for hearing, and (2) extension of time for survey, affecting Application No. 31/1942.—80th applications recommended for the Minister’s consent. Snowy River Gold Dredging Ltd rot extension of time for hearing application No. 54/1941.—Recommended.
