BOMBAY, February 23. There is no appreciable change to record, says the medical bulletin issued on Gandhi's health. He had only broken sleep, hut to-day appears comfortable. Prayers for long life for Gandhi and for his unconditional release were offered m places of worship in India. The Parsce community at Karachi passed a resolution requesting the Viceroy to release Gandhi unconditionally, to save his life for the cause of universal goodwill and peace. At Madras the Hindu leader, Rajagopalachari, and Congress Party leaders, Bhulabhai Desai and Munshi, have abandoned an effort to “obtain from the Government a gesture which they,could use to persuade Gandhi to give up the fast.” They stayed on at New Delhi after the leaders’ conference for this purpose, but are leaving to-morrow for Poona, where Gandhi is fasting. ATTITUDE OF MISSIONARIES. (Rec. 1.10.) NEW YORK, Feb. 25. “The Times’s’’ Washington correspondent states: Two former missionaries to India were arrested in Washington when they picketed the British Embassy, protesting at the arrests of Gandhi and Nehru. Both declined to offer bail. They announced that they would fast eight days in jail.
