The Rehabilitation Committee Held their weekly meet.ng on Monday evening. Mr. C. F. Schadick was appointed Chairman. Several farm applications were dealt with and it was decided, on the motion of Hon. W. H. Mclntyre, that the- Chairman end Secretary secure all particulars regarding the properties, and if the propositions are worth while they will have the- full support of the committee and its recommendation to the Rehabilitation Board. An application for support was discussed, wherein a returned serviceman contemplated conducting a taxi service-. The matter of trade training was fully dealt with, an ex-serviceman submitting an application to he trained as a carpenter. Ihe flax industry was discussed, and the Secretary was instructed to communicate with the Flax Committee of the Department of Industries and Commerce, asking whether, as an incentive to farmers in the Buller district, the Government would be prepared to guarantee them a market and protection now-and after the cessat on of hostdit'.os should the planted ilr.x be in excess o f that now being grown. The Committee- intend t<? work whole heartedly in the best interests oi returned servicemen, women and demobilised soldiers alike. Mrs. Scully, senr., of Timaru is visiting Westport. Mr. Arthur Hill, is in Westport representing Timaru Mill ng Coy.. The funeral of the late Daniel Llewellyn took place yesterday a.fternoon. The Rev. S. Corney held a srvice at St. John’s Church and nt the graveside. The pall bearers were, Messrs R. Neill, J. Stowell. T. Whiteside, E. Skilton, W. Mclndoe and J. Mumm. „ . .

Mr Thomas Arthur Hay, single, age 63 'yjears was found dead on nis section on the North Beach on Monday. There was evidence that he had crawled about the ground suggesting that he may have had a seizure. He had apparently been dead from twenty-four to forty-eght hours. An inquest, held for identification purposes, was adjourned sine die.
