WAVE OF BOLSHEVISM

Threatening Europe GOEBBELS ON GERMAN “BULWARK.” (Rec. 6.45.) LONDON. February 18. Doctor Goebbels, in a speech broadcast. in English, from Bremen, declared: — _ “A Bolshevist wave threatens Europe. The danger is . imminent. Thorough and speedy action is imperative,- as otherwise it will be too late.” Th e speech amounted to an appeal to the United Nations to realise that “Germany is their only bulwark against Bolshevism.” Dr. Goebbels did not evert hint at his previous theme, that Britain was Germany’s public enemy number one. “If the Wehrmacht should be unable to overcome the eastern danger to the Reich, then the whole ol Europe will soon fall, a victim to the Bolshevists. Bolshevism would not call a halt at the English Channel. There are Jewish liouidation commandos already marching behind the onrushing Soviet divisions. It is no use denying the demands from the East Front, or denying that the present onslaughts put all previous conceptions in the shade. This war- of a mechanised robot against Germany and against Europe has reached its culminating peak. After this war, there will be neither victors nor vanquished, but only the survivors and the destroyed. The belief m certain of the European States, especially in Britain, they are strong enough to combat the danger of Bolshevism is childish. If Germany, which is the world’s .strongest military Power, should be unable to stem the Bolshevists, then, who in the world is capable of doing so?” Dr Goebbels went on to say: “Stalingrad is the symbol of the heroic resistance against the revolt ot the Steepes.” He paid a tribute to the loyal and reliable Italians, and to. the brave Japanese nation, which was dealing the Anglo-Saxons blow after blow. He asserted that the Germans are united and are determined to follow their Fuehrer through thick and thin. He said: “The enemy in the coming spring, will find that we are recharged with our old offensive strength. There is no doubt victory will be ours.”
