TIPSY NAZI
On The Radio DR. LEY’S MUTTERINGS. (Rec. 10.40) LONDON, Feb. 8 The German Labour Front leader. Dr. Ley, is believed to have been drunk when he broadcast to-night from a German war factory. A reporter ait Reuter’s listening post said: “Ley has known been to have been drunk in the past whe.n speaking, but to-night he sounded positively delirious. He banged a table with his fists. He shouted at the top or his voice. Then he was heard muttering to himself. He repeated whole sentences two or three times. Evidently the strain of the past week had been too much for him.” The British United Press says: “Dr. Ley was drunk if the delivery of ms
speech, as heard over the radio, was any guide. He spoke strangely, and often haltingly. He often repeated himself. Finally he worked himslt into a state of frenzy. Ley called the Russians 'these low Mongolians.' He continued: “‘We Germans will conquer them. Yesterday I had an incredibly!. happy experience, spending the whole day with our beloved Fuehrer. We can ask only one thing from fate—take any of us, myself. Mou, anyone—but preserve the health and strength of Adolph Hitler.”
