ROSS NOTES

A (Our Own Correspondent)

The usual meeting of the Ross Borough Council wks held on Tuesday. last .those- present being:— Mr. KO. May, (Mayor), - Councillors, Holmes, Gough, Cunninghame, Woolhouse and Thomson. An apology, wa's received for the absence of Or. Flaherty. The minutes were taken as read and confirmed. Outward correspondence was approved. Hon. J. O’Brine wrote acknowledging receipt of letter to be handed to the Minister of Justice, and Minister of Justice wrote acknowledging receipt of letter regarding Justices of Peace for Ross, and advising that the position pad been noted and would be kept in view when further appointments to the Commission of the Peace were made. The Department of Health forwarded a report on a sample of water taken bv the Inspector of Health, from the Ross supply, advising the water is of satisfactorw quality. The Ross Red Cross Committee wrote a’skmg the Council to make application to Lie authorities for the services of a district nurse. Ross is at present without the services of any trained person who could be called upon in the case of accident. The Council unanimously supported the Red Cross Committees suggestion and it was decided to thank the Committee and make representation, through the Member for the District and to .ascertain if the services of a nurse would oe available. Mr. C. E. Griffiths and Mr. H. Phillips applied for permits to build garages which were granted. The Chairman of Works reported that the water tables in Moorhouse St. had been cleaned and general maintenance work had been carried out. The maintenance man was granted eight days’ leave. The Acting Town Clerk was asked to present a list of all unpaid rates and rents at the next meeting of the Council.
