(Rec. 9.50.) LONDON, Jan. 26. The “Daily Telegraph’s” corresponj'dent on the French frontier says: The | Germans are rushing artillery and I tanks to the old port area in MarI seilles, where large numbers of I Frenchmen are reported to have barricaded themselves inside of houses from which they are firing on all attempting to approach. . The Vichy radio stated that The Vichy authorities proclaimed a state of siege in Marseilles, nobody' being permitted to enter buildings, whicu are being evacuated, until further notice. Anyone disobeying the order or attempting to shoot will be sentenc ed to death. Members of the Service d’Ordre Legionnaire have been instructed to use firearms against all disregarding their orders.
