RUNANGA NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent).

The Runanga Buffalo Lodge held a dance at the Gymnasium Hall on Friday evening, there being a good attendance, ana a very enjoyable evening was spent. The music was supplied by Mrs Hewison. Mr McTigue and partner were the winners of a Monte Carlo waltz. Mr H. MsGregor, a pupil of St. Andrew’s College, Christchurch, is visiting Runanga. Miss Nola Kaye, who has been spending a holiday with her mother at Dunollie, has left on her return to Wellington.

Quite a little excitement was experienced by the people after the pictures on Sunday night when the red glow in the sky from the fire on Omoto Road was observed in the sky. It appeared to be closer than it really was and quite a few people thought, that it was at Camp Station, and it was not known until yesterday morning where the fire really was.
