Mr. W. S. D. Dobbie, who has been spending holidays on the Coast, has left on return to Wellington.

. Miss Margaret Gardiner, of Dunedin, is spending holidays at Waimangaroa, as the guest of Mr. and Mrs." J. Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Croy, of Dunedn, are visiting Westport, where Mr. Croy formerly resided and took a prominent part in band and orchestral work. Members of the Red Cross Society met a t the Elite Tea Rooms to farewell their fellow member, Mrs. Satchwell. In a few well chosen words Mrs. Dunn expressed the Society’s regret at the loss of Mrs. Satchwell, as she had been one of the foundation members and had always worked very hard for; the Society. Mrs. Satchwell was -then presented with a floral spray and handbag as tokens of the esteem in which she was held. After the singino- of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” a dainty afternoon tea was served.

In response to representation from the residents of Westport, the Railways Department is to institute for three months trial, a Sunday railcar service between Greymouth and Westport. On alternate Sundays the rail-car will leave Greymouth and Westport respective!}' m the morning returning in the afternoon. The service will be inaugurated on January 31, when a car wll leave Westport at 8 a.m. arriving at Greymouth at 11 a.m. On the return trip it will leave Greymouth at 3.30 p.m. and reach Westport at 6.30 p.m. The same time table will be observed when the morning run is made from Greymouth.
