Thirty-eight Arrested

(Rec. 6.30) NEW YORK. Jan. 23. The Buenos Aires correspondent oi the “New York Times” says , that the arrest of thirty-eight spies followed information contained in three United States memorandums sent to Argentina, proving the existence m Argentina of a vast spy ring obeying the instructions of the German High Command, through the medium of the German Embassy at Buenos Aires. The memorandums revealed that the spy ring. operated throughout the Continent of America, including the Unified States’ The memorandums supplied the texts oi many messages exchanged between Buenos Aires and Berlin, which were intercepted in the United States, showing that the Nazi Embassy in Buenos Aires was the headquarters of Axis espionage and sabotage. It transmitted to Berlin information regarding the movement of Allied merchantmen and warships, air routes, transports to Africa, and secret production data.
