evans—McDonnell

The marriage took place on Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church, Greymouth, of Miss Mary McDonnell, third daughter of Mr and Mrs E. McDonnell, to Lester Frederick Evans, oijly son of Mr and Mrs H. F. Evans, ’Christchurch. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father A. C. Gregory. The organist was Miss Joan Walker, and Miss Doris Willis was soloist. Arum lilies and roses decorated the altar. The bride wore a gown of magnolia satin, the train of which was worked with Richelieu embroidery, and a limerick lace veil, worked' bv I her godmother. She carried a sheaf ’of Christmas lilies. Her sister, Veronica. and Irene Scott were bridesmaids. They wore pale blue georgette, with veils to match, and carried bouquets of roses. Gunner S. McDonnell and Mr Hugh McDonnell 'brothers of thd' bride, were best man and groomsman respectively. The reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The bride’s travelling frock was of mist blue crepe with self trimmings, and she wore a bangre straw hat with cerise and blue (trimmings, toning with a pink coat.

GARTH—MAYO. The marriage of Doreen Margaret, youngest daughter of Mrs Mayo and the late. Mr J. Mayo, Cashmere, and formerly of Greymouth, to Frederick, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs F. Garth, Greymouth, took place recently at St. Augustine Church, Cashmere. Archdeacon Purchas officiated. The bride was escorted by Mr K. Humm. She wore a model frock of chestnut sheer, with a large picture hat to match, and carried a bouquet of roses and freesias, with maidenhair fern. Miss Joyce Blocksage, of Greymouth, who was bridesmaid, wore a pretty frock of dusky pink, with navy hat and accessories to match. Her bouquet was of pale pink carnations and maidenhair fern. Driver J. Pattinson, of Cashmere, was best man. The bride’s mother received the guests, and wore a model navy frock with accessories to match, and a shoulder spray of red roses. Mrs F. Hill, aunt of the bridegroom, assisted Mrs Mavo, wearing a smart frock arid fur coat, with shoulder spray to tone. When Driver and Mrs F. Garth left later for Timaru, the bride wore a smart petrel blue costume, with navy blue accessories.
