The Columbia Broadcasting Company of New York, reports American air operations against Japanese warships hundred of miles to the Cast and north-east of the Solomons.

It stated that off the Stewart Islands, United States warships and planes have heavily damaged a Japanese battleship, aircraft-carrier, cruiser and destroyer. The Stewart Islands are due east of the Solomons, and north-west of the Santa Cruz Islands (which are due north of the New Hebrides). The Columbia B.C. report also stated thati. other United States torpedocarrying aircraft operating 600 miles north of the Stewart Islands, damaged a Japanese aircraft-carrier and a cruiser.
