GRADE TWO MEN
Being Re-examined WELLINGTON, August 19. Medical re-examination of all Grade Two personnel serving in the New Zealand military forces is now under way, said the Minister of Defence. A large number of men who were originally placed in Grade Two had since their first medical examination spent a considerable period in training camps, and it was confidently expected that the known beneficial effects of army training would have so improved their physique that upon re-examination they ' would be advanced to Grade One. This would mean a valuable increase in the number of first line troops fit for duty anywhere in the world, without adding to the Army’s calls upon the country’s manpower. The information gained from these further medical boardings would also be of value to those responsible for carrying into effect the general policy of employing fit men in fighting jobs, instead of leaving them in clerical and other posts that could be filled by men drawn from the lower medical grades. The re-examina-tion will be Dominion wide, and this week, for instance the boards will be dealing with all Grade Two officers and other ranks on the Army Headquarters Staff.'
