RAIDS ON BRITAIN

MIDLANDS AND SOUTH-WEST LONDON, August 17. A small number of enemy aircraft on Sunday night dropped bombs at scattered noints in the North Midlands. No casualties were reported and there was little damage. It is officially stated that on Monday afternoon a few enemy aircraft fiew over the coast and south-west England. Bombs were dropped at two places; 1 causing some damage and a small number of casualties, some fatal. IT , . No enemy activity over Britain had been reported on Saturday. Spitfires of the Figher Command, however, continued their attacks' on France. Flying at tree-top height along the railway from Rouen to Etaples, British aircraft damaged a number of goods trains. Other Spitfires attacked vessels moored in a canal near Ouistreham. One aircraft is missing.
