SPAIN
ANTHEM RESTORED.
LONDON. July 21.
General Franco has decreed reinstating “Marcha Grandera” as Spain's national anthem. It was played until the fall of the monarchy. A decree defines the national salute as “an extended arm, with outstretched hand, raised slightly above head level.”
The Moscow radio, quoting Swiss diplomatic circles, said the Spanish Navy is being expanded by the addition of a large number of submarines and motor torpedo-boats. New shipyards are being built at Cadiz, Malaga, and Almena, and existing ones enlarged, under the supervision of German engineers. Submarine parts are being brought overland from Germany aria Italy. A large number of German technicians are supervising their assembly. Three thousand German naval officers and ratings arrived in Spain in Mav and June, and have established headquarters at Malaga.
