Taylor secretary of the Bulller Patriotic Committee,' represented Buller at the annual meeting Of the Provincial Committee held at Nelson on the 25th instThe funeral of the late Martha,, took place at Waimangaroa cemetery on Saturday afternoon, a large gathering of friends and relatives being in attendance. Rev. Rowe conducted' the service at the residence of her son and also at the graveside. There were many beautiful floral tributes. The pail bearers were Messrs J. Tinetti, S. Mills. R. Griffith and H. Griffith. ,A 1 meeting of Rugby Management Committee wa’s held on Saturday evening. Present: Messrs J. P. McEnaney (Chairman), J. Mason,.- T. Scanlon, G. -B. Wilson, J. Feehan, H. Lockey, N. Goodall, H. Taylor, R. Pratt, D. Lutton, H. Casey, and W. Craddock (Secretary). The Chairman welcomed Messrs Wilson and Lockey, recently elected members of the committee, and both suitably replied. Outward correspondence was dealt with as follows: Letter to the New Zealand Rugby Union applying for a grant of £25 for the purchase of footballs for the primary schools in the district. Letter to the Sta-tionmaster-in-charge at Westport requesting that a rail-car be run from Greymouth to Westport to convey /the West Coast team from Greymouth Ito Westport and back on Saturday July 4 for the match against Buller lon that date. IAI further request I was made that a rail-car be located in Westport. The Secretary explained that the West Coast team had made the usual arangements with Gibbs Motors Ltd.; to convey them to Westport and bank, but were subsequently advised that the team could travel to Westport by the ordinary service, though a special license was required, for the return trip. Gibbs Motors' Ltd. have made application for the license, but no reply has been received from the Licensing Authority and no decision has been reached regarding the provision of a rail-car service. A letter from the West Coast Rugby Union re primary schools’ tourney states advice had been received that the tournament has been allotted to the Union. A letter was' received from the Marlborough Union challenging for the Seddon Shield and suggesting August 8. It was decided that Auguse 8, wouldi be unsuitable ’as the minds in the district would be working on that date and many /of the i players would not be available, and recommended August 15. It was [moved that tile Buller team assemble (at the Black and White Hotel and [the game “Buller v. West Coast) to 1 commence all 2.45 p.m. (The curtain [raiser for the representative game to (be a fourth'grade match. Rovers v. [Stars. Mr. H. Taylor will be manager of the West Coast team and Mr IV. Goodall for the Bulldr team. Mr IN. Anderson will be referee for the .{big game and Mr. G. B. Wilson for .’the curtain raiser. Mr. J. Lewis will be line umpire and Mr. J. Rayner gatekeeper for the Coast v. Buller game. The gate charges were fixed' at 2/- and 1/-, grandstand 6d extra. The final arrangements for the representative game were left in [the hands of the president and seciretary. It was decided to donate one [guinea to the funds of the Westport (Municipal Band. It was decided to [hold a dance on July 4 (if the match (eventuates that day) in the Friendly Societies Hall if available, if not another hall to be arranged for. It was resolved that the president and secretarj' call on* Air. Clark, of the Southland Rugby Union, and in- , vite- him to meetings of the Management The following ! fourth grade matches will be played ; during the week: Granity D.H.S, v. [Denniston D.H.S., at Waimangaroa; [Westport South v. Technical High School: Westport North v. St. Canice’s.
