CHINESE REGAIN TOWN. LONDON, June 28. \ A Chungking communique says the Chinese have recaptured Linshien, killing and wounding 100 Japanese, and capturing large stocks of war booty. An enemy counter-attack was repulsed, after which several Japanese units were surrounded, and are I facing annihilation. ~ In Kiangsi, the Japanese are driving south-east of Lake Poyang. They have captured Yukan. Severe fightifig. w-is raging on the outskirts di Kweiki. ’ It isl’re.vealed that the Japanese ar P using 1201 b incendiary bombs’, each containing many rubber pellets the .size of pigeon’s eggs. The bomb’s explosion hurls the pellets 50 yards. The pellets * are impregnated with phosphorous, which burns ireely in the .open air. and re-ignites after being put out with water. It is officially stated that the Japanese in northern Honan Province are behaving with barbarism, looting, slaughtering, and burning. Consequently Chinese civilians are organising voluntary units to harass ...the enemy. _ CAPTURED RAILWAYS. ' USELESS TO JAPANESE. (Rec. 9.30) CHUNGKING, June 28. The Chinese “Central News,” quoting the. Managing Director of the Hangchow—Nanchaiig railway, said: “The Japanese are finding the 3t>o miles of railway which they possess are absolutely worthless. Rails over two hundred bridges and in numerous tunnels have been twisted and ripped up by dynamiting. It will be at least five months before they are repaired.” He added that the entire' railwaj 7 staff had been withdrawn.

JAPAN TO BE DEMILITARISED.
(Rec. 8.10.) CHUNGKING, June 29 ' Sun Fo, President of the Yunan Legislature, addressing Peoples’ Foreign Relations Association, said: “When peace is made, China will demand that Japan shall be stripped completely of her army, her navy, and her air force for fifty years.” He said that, if an effective international peace organisation could not be found before the expiration of Japan’s half a century of demilitarisation, China would build up sufficient defences to safeguard this part oi the world from further aggression. He declared that the winning of a total victory by the United Nations was China's most significant war aim. “In framing peace,” he said. “China will insist on the extermination of Imperialism, and of the liberation pt all enslaved nations and peoples.
JAPANESE STORM A TOWN.
(Rec. 1.10.) NEW YORK, June 28. The Tokio official radio said that a Japanese column, driving southward in Kiangsi Province, has stormed and occupied Lungutu, 15 miles from Fuchow. ALLIED NATIONALS Depart From Chma ('Rec. 1.10.) NEW YORK, June 29. , The Italian ship “Conte Verde,” has departed from Shanghai with 636 American and other _ enemy nationals aboard. She is going to Lourenzo Marques, in .Portuguese Southeast Africa. All aboard are former residents of Shanghai, Nanking, Hankow and Hainan Island. It is reported that the ship “Asama Maru” will soon be arriving in Hong Kong to take on enemy nationals.
