(Rec. 7.30.) NEW YORK, June 28. The U.S. Naw Department;: Washington, has disclosed the loss of- three more United States merchantmen.

The entire crew of thirty-three belonging to; a medium-sized cargo ship died when the vessel was, Jorpedoefl : in the Gulf of Mexico on June 22. ‘'' J

The Joint Maritime Commission and International Labour Office, comprising representatives of shipowners and seamen, unanimously decided that the safety of the men is a paramount consideration, and no expense should prevent the adoption of effective measures. The recommendations include the provision of mechanically operated davits, signal pistols, waterproof charts, first aid kits, and also the appointment o f Government inspectors of safety conditions.
