U-BOAT CAMPAIGN
DUTCH SHIP SUNK,
(Rec. 7.45.) WASHINGTON, June 14. The U.S. Navy announced that a small Dutch carm steamer has been shelled and sunk in the Atlantic. Twenty-nine survivors have reached an East Coast port, after drifting in lifeboats four davs. Two of ■ the crew died. Four are missing.

Wardens’ sirens were not sounded, but 100 people went to 4 the shelters, and remained there until the firing ceased. Shells from the guns appeared to be directed towards a point on which searchlights were focussed. Observers state that the searchlights appeared to be following an object through the water, but they could see nothing resembling a submarine.
