Mr J'. S. Bain, president of the Hokitika branch of the R.S.A., left yesterday morning to attend the R.S.A. Conference in Wellington. He was accompanied by Mrs Bain.
Sir Reginald Dorman Smith, Governor of Burma, is returning to London. to consult with the British Government, states a message from New Delhi.
The call to the Collins Street Church, Melbourne, which he received recently, has been declined by the Rev. Dr. Alexander Hodge, Minister of the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle.

The Australian N.Z.P.A. correspondent states that Sergeant G. Dale of Gore, New Zealand, is included in the latest list of members of the R.A.A.F. mentioned in despatches.

Gunners Pamment (Kumara) and Chandler (Westport), who have been Invalided home from overseas arrived in Greymouth on Saturday being welcomed bv the Mayor (Mr. F. A. Kitchingham), Mr. J. O’Brien, M.P., and members of various locav bodies.
The death .of Mr. R. E. Herron, a native of Durham. England, aged 66 years, occurred at Wellington . on Friday. He was educated at the Grevmouth High School. From 1922 until his retirement on March 31. of this year, he was general manager of the Wellington Municipal Milk Department. He is survived bv his wife, and three daughters, one of whom is Mrs. K. E. Balchin, of Greymouth.
Lord Cranbourne has been in consultation with the Governor of Fiji and High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, Sir Harry Luke, regarding the new situation that has arisen in that area, states a Foreign Office message. With great public spirit, says the Colonial Office, Sir H. Luke has consented to place his resignation in His Majesty’s hands, in order to facilitate the appointment of a younger man to this post. The name of his successor will be announced shortly.
