ENGLISH DERBY WATLING STREET WINS RUGBY, June 13. The hopes of the Newmarket crowds for a Royal “double” on tire Oaks and Derby were disappointed when the King’s horse, Big Game, was beaten by Lord Derby’s Watling Street, in the race to-day. Following is the result: — THE DERBY STAKES, of £2OOO. For three-year-olds. One mile and a haIf.—WATLING STREET 1; Hyperides 2; Ujiji 3. Won by two lengths. Time 2.29 3-5. Their Majesties were present on both days of the meeting. It was the first time they had attended race meetings since the outbreak of war. The King had first carried out official business in the neighbourhood of Newmarket.
