GOLDMINING

SNOWY RIVER. The return from the Snowy River dredge was 147 ounces for 125 hours’ work, and 25,700 yards of material treated. WAITAHU. It has been decided to cease mining operations at the claim' until after the wan. This decision has been forced on the directors because of the difficulty of obtaining experienced men and because of the shortage of labour. Before closing down, arrangements were made to safeguard the Company’s plant, and until mining operations are resumed the raceman will patrol the waterrace and keep it in good order.
