This was .its first raid for six weeks, and its sixteenth since the war began. The South Pacific Headquarters, in a communique, says: “At Darwin, twenty-seven heavy ’ bombers, escorted by from twelve to fifteen Zero planes, attacked an aerodrome, causing slight damage. “Our interceptor planes shot down one enemy fighter. “We lost one plane.”

(Rec. 10.30) MELBOURNE, June. 14. A South Pacific Headquarters communique states: At Rabaul, in a light raid, an Allied flight scored hits on an aerodrome and on the dock area.

“In the New Ireland sector at Simberi Island, an allied air unit successfully attacked enemy shipping.”
