MILITARY BALL
The ball sponsored bv the 17th. Independent Infantry Company on Monday night at Schaef’s Hall, drew one of the largest attendances at such an entertainment since the start of the iwar. A new military orchestra of ten instruments, made a successful debut. It comprises W.O. 11. S./Major S. Davy, S./Sgt. C. G. Coxall,' Cpl. Stewart, Ptes. Hodgkinson, L. Abbie, J. Dunean, Symons, Marley, Sloss and Illing. Extras were played by Pte. S. Ellis and Mr. W. Williams. Ptes. H. De'Treatus and Becker were M’s.C. The organisingcommittee were:—Sergeant Major S. Gladstone Cadet Officer Blumsky (secretary), Ptes. Ellis, Adams, Morris, Sheehan, Long, Finlay, Bellis, Kely, Dumpleton, Hamill, Cpls. Barrow, Robinson, Ptes. Smith, Cropp, Fisher, McGeady, McQuinn, Cpl. Livsey and Pte. Rash. There were no fewer than eight sittings of supper, and the efficient catering was due to- untiring efforts on the part of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary, -whose uniforms added an additional military touch to the occasion.
