RUNANGA NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent). The Runanga Co-operative Women’s Guild held a very successful) social and dance in the Druids’ Hall on the occasion of their 14th. birthday. Mrs. Oakley (President), welcomed the visitors and called on Mrs. Graham (Vice President) to light the candles on the birthday cake. Mr. Oakley (President of the Co-op. Society) spoke on the necessity of co-operation, and then cut the cake. Messrs Bowes and Rutherford, in speeches, endorsed the previous speakers’ statements, and thanked the Guild for their invitation. The icing of the cake was the work of Mrs. Q.akley. The winners of the Monte Carlo were Miss O’Connell' and Mr. Smithson; and of a “Luckv Spot,” Miss Nola Burgess and Mr. Hinks. Prizes were donated by Mesdames Wright, Williams. Oakley and Rutherford. The music was supplied by Mesdames Hewitson and Smithson. ■
