KERCH PENINSULA

EVACUATION REPORTED By the Soviet [British Official Wireless) (Rec. 6.30.) RUGBY, May 23. The Russians have evacuated the Kerch Peninsula. This is announced in a Soviet communique. The communique states: “In accordance with an order of the Soviet High Command, our troops have left the Kerch Peninsula. The evacuation of the troops and equipment was carried out in the best order. - SEBASTOPOL SIEGt. ENEMY SEEKS FINALITY.

(Rec. 6.30). ’ LONDON, May 23. Axis reports state that some of the German and Roumanian units who have been released from the fighting on Kerch Peninsula, have gone westward for the purpose of finally reducing the citadel of Sebastopol. The Luftwaffe has been for fortyeight hours violently bombarding Sebastopol.
