SOUTH AFRICAN R.N.V.R. AT DRILL. For some years South Africa has included a Division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve among the Defence Forces of the Union. In peace time members of the S.A.R.N.V.R. serve under the orders of Commander-in-Chief at Simonstown and carry out their annual training in sea-going ships. Gas drill is carried out on board in conjuction with pom-pom practice. The gun’s crew is seen wearing gas masks.
