AIR RAID EQUIPMENT NEW YORK, May 21. Mayor la Guardia accused Landis, director of the O.C.D. with hindering the war effort, and advised Landis there should be less chatter and more supplies. Landis had said it was the fault of New York City authorities that the city failed to obtain aifi raid equipment. La Gaurdia reiterated that not a single piece of civilian protection equipment had been received by New York or any othei city, although Congress appropriated one hundred, million dollars for the purpose. OIL IN CANADA OTTAWA, May 20. No oil will be available for heating buildings, factories and homes, or anything else next winter in Canada, according to an announcement by the Minister for Supply (Mr C. D. NEW YORK, May 19.
The Chungking official radio quoted the Central News report that an unexploded gas bomb, dropped bv a Japanese airplane, has been found in the Shensi Province. Tne bomb weighted 2001b5.. and was 140 centimetres high and 27 centimetres thick. It has been taken by a ‘ removal squad to the anti-aircraft headquarters.
