HOKITIKA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent). HOKITIKA, May 20. As reported in to-day’s “Argus,” the recent cloudburst at Bruce Bay, occurring at 2 o’clock in the morning carried away the two centre spans .of the traffic bridge of Bruce Bay Timbers Ltd., over the river Mahitahi. The slip which buried the company’s power plant at BannocKbrae Hill also filled up Flagstaff Creek, altering its course, and incidentally saving Mr Condon’s home from being washed out, but leaving the home of the powerhouse operator perched precariously on a hih-> side. The Mahitahi River overflowed at several points and caused damage to the highway which runs through a scenic area. The Armed Forces Appeal Board (Messrs H. R. Lovell, chairman, .G. Mason and A.
